Well, long story made short. I went to college for 2 years, got my certificates. Then spent a year stood next to one of the most intuitive and best hairdressers I know. He showed me how to go from student to creative hairdressing and I flourished. I've been lucky enough to work in some amazing places, with some fantastic people, all who have shared their knowledge and experience with me, teaching me new techniques and tricks of the trade. The last stop before me buying my own salon was "Harrods". This place allowed me to have fun, enjoy my work, whilst working in one of the worlds most famous buildings, with some of the most glamorous people. Unbelievable times! All these experiences and more in my 21 years of hairdressing, have put me in the right place to build "Along Came Polly". Now a thriving business with its own set of amazing people. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Hi I'm Amy, I was born in the beautiful Kent countryside, then my family moved to Jurassic Lyme Regis. For my work experience at school my Auntie invited me to do two weeks work at her Hair and Beauty Salon called the Junction near Oxford. Despite all the sweeping hair and making coffee, the team environment was great, they were creative, enthusiastic, height of fashion and laughed a lot. I had soo much fun, I loved it! This really inspired me to start looking at hairdressing as a career. I left school and went to Exeter College where I worked extremely hard to learn my basic skills and fortunately became hairdressing student of the year. I left college and "Along came Polly", she inspired me with her creativity and high standards, with lots more training she has nurtured my passion. At the moment I am in "style Heaven", being able to do colouring, commercial and edgy cutting, and festival hair, endless opportunities!! I enjoy providing the right hair care advice even if I have to make cocktails with my products! It's important to me that I create something personal to each individual, giving them the "feel good factor", leaving them feeling happy and confident. Everyday is a learning day and I love all the new ideas that this industry has to offer and I've really only just begun!
Hello, my name is Monica, So, I was born in Yeovil, then my parents moved us to Birmingham. We lived there till I was about 8, which is when we moved back to the West Country, we spent a lot of time in Dawlish so it made sense. I now live in Seaton, which I love, although I don't see myself being there forever, I love Cornwall and maybe one day will make the move. Ive been hairdressing for 8 years. I started training when I was at school at the age of 14, and always had a passion for it straight away. I love my job, theres not many people that can say they look forward to going to work, but I really do. I love being able to be creative and daring. Its amazing to be able to do clients hair, knowing they are walking out of the door feeling happy and better about themselves. Ive always enjoyed challenging myself with work. Wedding hair and hair for special occasions is a favourite. My career is so important to me and by pushing myself and being driven, eventually I would like to have my own salon, and to also teach and asses my own apprentices.
Hello, my name is Sarah.
I was born and raised in the beautiful countryside of Somerset. Hairdressing is something I've always been interested in.
It has always fascinated me the way hairdressers could cut hair and make that person in the chair feel a million dollars. I didn't start my training till a later stage in my life, when I joined “The Hair Academy” in Taunton. I trained there for 3 years and gained my level 3 NVQ. I loved my training, as I was able to interact with the clients, which gave me the confidence I needed. I picked up a lot from college but it wasn't until I joined Polly’s team that I found my footing fully.
I feel really blessed that I have found the right place to learn new skills and progress my talent to its full potential. I want to be that stylist that gives the wow factor, and who makes their clients leave feeling like a ‘million dollars'.
Hi my name is Chey-Anne, I was born in Bristol, however at the age of 8, I moved to lovely sunny Lyme Regis. Growing up I was often played around with my hair and was fascinated about all the techniques and styles there were to create. It wasn't until I was struggling at school and needed something to focus on, that I found “Along Came Polly”. This is when I really became interested in hairdressing. I loved the vibe and atmosphere of the salon as soon as I walked in. Starting with a few days a week to get the feel of it, It wasn't long before I was working there full time and doing my NVQ Level 2. I qualified in March 2017 and am steadily building my clientele. Still learning everyday and thats something that will never stop.
